Over the last few decades science has made a lot of progress when it comes to surgery of the Sino-nasal pathology. Chronic sinusitis remains one the commonest ailments in the adult population. Its most common symptom is headache, which may be accompanied by frequent sneezing, changes in smell, nasal block or chronic dry cough.

Diagnosis of any nose and sinus condition requires us to spend time with you to take a detailed history. A general physical examination and a nasal endoscopy follow this. When necessary we advise imaging such as a CT scan or an MRI scan.
Treatment:
Treatment of nose and sinus conditions is dependent on the diagnosis.
Chronic Sinusitis
For chronic Rhinosinusitis with polyps, first, a medical line of therapy is advised. If this fails, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) may be advised to facilitate medical management. For bacterial sinusitis, pus culture and antibiotic sensitivity may be done. For those patients that present with a growth in the nose, a small punch biopsy is the starting point after history, physical examination and endoscopy. This is further augmented with imaging.
Children too may present with sinus related complaints, however its uncommon as compared with the adults.
Deviated nasal septum
Surgery for deviated nasal septum is Septoplasty. This on its own is a functional surgery to improve nasal airway. However, if the deviated nasal septum is associated with a cosmetic deformity, its correction is known as Septorhinoplasty.
Nose bleed
Nasal bleeding is commonly seen in children and elderly, where the underlying pathology are different. The cause has to be identified and treated in both cases.
Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak
CSF leak is when a patient presents with a leak of cerebrospinal fluid from a defect in the bone of the skull base. This requires surgical closure in some cases.
